Matthias Eibinger Wins 5th Triton Title (and First Bracelet!) in the Bahamas

Our head coach and co-founder has secured his fifth Triton Poker Series title, taking down the $75k Triton PLO 6-Handed event at WSOP Paradise in the Bahamas.

With this massive score, he not only claimed his very first WSOP Gold Bracelet, but he also officially took the solo lead on the internal Pokercode Triton Title Leaderboard:

  • Matthias Eibinger: 5 Trophies
  • Fedor Holz: 4 Trophies
  • Mario Mosböck: 3 Trophies

The Suit, The Surprise, and The Glory

Matthias came prepared, but perhaps even he didn't expect the preparation to pay off so quickly. In an interview with PokerNews following his victory, Matthias revealed he had packed a suit "just in case" he made a final table—but breaking it out for one of the very first events on the schedule came as a shock.

This was especially true given the format: it was Matthias's first-ever Triton Pot-Limit Omaha event.

"I think it would be a bit greedy to expect to final table it right away," Matthias told PokerNews. "But the way it went yesterday, it started really badly. Three bullets within one hour. But from there, suddenly everything worked out. I ended the day as chip leader, and now it ended like this. I can't believe it."

The "Three-Bullet" Mentality

Matthias’s start to the tournament is a perfect case study for the Pokercode community. Firing three bullets in sixty minutes is enough to shatter the mental game of most players.

However, Matthias stayed objective. He ignored the sunk cost, focused on the long-term EV, and navigated a field of 93 of the world’s best. He ultimately defeated Canadian pro Mike Watson heads-up to secure the $1,570,640 top prize.

Inside the Mind of a Champion

While the poker world watched the live stream, the Pokercode community got a backstage pass. Throughout the entire event, Matthias kept in close contact with our community, dropping exclusive video messages directly into the Pokercode Discord.

He shared real-time thoughts on his stack depth, field dynamics, and mental adjustments. It was a masterclass in transparency, showing exactly how a high-roller approaches a $75k buy-in after a rough start.

Looking Ahead: Relaxed and Dangerous

With this win, Matthias extends his lead as Austria’s All-Time Money List leader, now boasting over $26 million in live earnings. But perhaps the scariest thing for his opponents is how he feels going into the rest of the series.

"I'm just going to play everything that I wanted to play. But now I see it more relaxed," he explained to PokerNews. "I already have the big score, the big lock-up to start with. So it doesn't matter whether the flips are going my way or not, I'll just be relaxed and enjoy it."

The victory has also lit a new fire for hunting hardware:

"It's fantastic because I win one tournament and now I have the WSOP title and another Triton title... That keeps me motivated to hunt those titles."

Congratulations, Matthias! The race for the most Triton titles in Team Pokercode is heating up—your move, Fedor and Mario.
