Fedor Holz is better known for his tournament exploits these days. Having started in the Cash Game streets, he shifted lanes and elevated himself to the top of the Tournament World.

2022 has seen Fedor return to his roots battling in the High Stakes Cash games over at GG Poker. Pokercode Cash Game Coach Steffen Sontheimer recently reviewed Fedor's cash game strategy for a video on our youtube channel; let's see how Fedor did when switching things up from his comfort zone.

Talking Cash Game Range Advantage

We're into the action thick and fast, NL $5000 heads up on a board of Q❤️3♠️7♦️.

Outlining that Fedor can keep his range advantage on this board, small high-frequency bets are the go-to play here. However, Steffen remarks, you can split your range here and have some hands in your check back range, with Fedor's 66 being a hand that could fall into a check back range.

Steffen remarks that he knows Fedor pretty well and expects him to be in the propensity of betting this sort of spot, and he's correct as Fedor bets the coached approved 40% and Villain calls.

Turn 5❤️ goes check, check.

River 9♣️ and Steffen remarks he's not planning to call the action and will only jump in when he feels like Fedor has a decision to make.

Villain then leads into Fedor for 75% pot $337.

Steffen confirms now is when he’ll step in outlining that Fedor's hand is a bluff catcher vs Villain sizing. With Villain repping 9x+, we're not beating any value hands here, so we need to consider what Villains bluffs could be and there aren’t many.

Fedor ultimately finds the fold, which Steffen laments is the right decision, especially when Villain shows the 8♣️ further narrowing the range of bluffing hands.
